Driving Traffic to Your WordPress Site

Ping Pong TournamentWe’ve recently created a brand new web site package that’s perfect for small businesses and entrepreneurs because it’s lightning-fast to publish and super easy to maintain. It’s entirely built on the popular WordPress platform.

Once the site is up and running, the next step is to drive in traffic. The great thing about sites built in WordPress is that you can actually interact with your visitors – so traffic techniques are a little different than those you would use with a standard web site.

To get traffic to your new WordPress web site, start with your current email list. You already have a relationship with them, and they are already interested in what you have to say. So why not invite them to subscribe to your new site feed? (As a matter of fact, I invite you to subscribe to my new site feed located at
http://www.modernimage.com/blog/ You’ll find the subscribe link toward the bottom of the page on the right hand side.)

Remember that keywords are not only for a “standard” web site. You should definitely utilize your target words or phrases in your WordPress posts. The search engines love blogs, and by incorporating the proper keywords, you should be seeing an increase in natural traffic in no time at all. And make sure your WordPress is set up to ping automatically with each new post.

Take advantage of the social side of your blog by submitting your posts to your favorite social networking sites. My new blog feeds directly into my Facebook profile, and the ever-so-wonderful Michelle adds the posts to several other sites as well.

And don’t forget to add an “About Us” page to your WordPress site. You can set up a static page that will be accessible from every post page. Visitors will be more interested in returning to your site if they can get to know you a bit.

Cool posts, thanks Karen. I believe that submitting your own posts to social networking sites all the time is not very credible as a lot of these sites have the ability to determine this. By networking with others you might find some people are willing to share your content providing it is of good quality.
